Dead Man's Hand (The Unorthodox Chronicles #1)

I have read all 17 Harry Dresden Novels, and the Aeronaut’s Windlass. These were written by this author’s father. I’ve been reading the Dresden books for almost 9 years. In my early college years, Harry Dresden was something of a father figure to me. I had a concussion just before I started reading Storm Front (book 1), and when Harry Dresden got hit on the head with a baseball bat in the story, his resilience made me feel a little healed. By rights, I get an opinion of his son’s first novel.

Makes me think of Sun Tzu's "The Art of War". It's a guidebook that's meant to be read 2 or 3 times for things to sink in and stay in long-term memory.

it’s good, and if you’re into this genre of supernatural heists with dashing-daring protagonists, then this is for you. Kind of like “League of Extraordinary Gentlemen”, except Gideon Sable is better

Liked 1? Then 2 is for you. Men will be bored, and some women will have as much fun as their daughters. The audience knows who they are, and they get exactly what they pay for.

Same flavor, same songs, same imagery, and almost as good as the first Frozen.

“Hitch 22” by Christopher Hitchens

Great memoir. This autobiography was written by a journalist who met Nelson Mandela, shook hands with many US presidents, traveled to North Korea, got arrested by state police in several authoritarian states, and so on and so forth. It’s INTERESTING. He’s the sort of guy you can just listen to for hours without getting bored. His deep, rumbling, stoic voice is a glacier grinding away the world’s ignorance. There’s always a song beneath his words.
